Coaching and later player

Misbun Sidek didn’t stop to bring Malaysia name into world stage as he broadens his skills in playing badminton by coaching the Malaysian National team. Before Misbun taking the decision to involve with the car business, he acted as the assistant coach where he become the assistant coach for his brother Rashid Sidek that was played for the first singles for Thomas cup in 1992. Malaysia name once again being be lifted as Rashid wins Thomas cup in 1992 after 25 years Malaysia drought.

In addition, he also coached including Rashid, the Hashim brother, Roslin and the Lee Chong Wei which has been ranked by Badminton World Federation as the World Number one Badminton Player.

He has been the coach for Lee Chong Wei for almost 6 years were Lee has consider Misbun as his coach and father that help him a lot in achieving for the title of World number 1 badminton player. Quoted from what Lee Chong Wei said that "I am loyal to my coach. After all, he has been the man behind my rise as a successful player (over the last six years). I will follow him.” Malaysia has received a lot of award from badminton sports as Lee Chong Wei has become he was under the tutelage of Misbun Sidek. As Misbun lead his brother Rashid Sidek to get bronzer at Atlanta Olympics in 1996, help Muhammad Hafiz Hashim get the title for All England in 2003 and create a title for Roslin Hashim which is the world number one player in 2001, Misbun has been certificated by the title “Datuk” by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob. At 31th December 2010, Misbun resigned as the National Coach for the Badminton team.

Misbun has regain his spirits to back into the badminton court once again as he participated in the local competitions in the middle of 1990s. As Misbun back in the game, he wins 7 consecutive Selangor Open championships. Besides, Misbun name once again been tainted in the Malaysia history as he won gold medals at the World Masters Games in Melbourne, Australia for categories 35 and over men’s single and mixed double.
